Dermal Needling is a form of digital collagen induction using fine needles to perforate the skin and encourage natural collagen deposition. The needles sit within a cartridge in a pen like device, which is filled with a serum specific to your skin type that is delivered into the skin at the time of the treatment.
Two types of dermal needling are available, plastic needles and metal needles. Plastic needling can be done as often as weekly and is perfect for before an event. you can expect to be red for a few hours afterwards.
Dermal Needling (using plastic needles) abrades and scuff the skin, letting the serum in through these breaks – the increase in trauma that it causes leads to increased results as it stimulates the body’s natural healing functions more. The needles penetrate into the skin through the epidermis and deposit the serums deeper down into the dermal-epidermal junction, leading to longer lasting results.
Dermal Needling + (using metal needles) is suitable for clients that have more difficult skin issues like acne scars or deeper set lines and wrinkles. The beauty of Dermal Needling + is that it targets the problem areas more directly by penetrating the skin. This procedure requires more aftercare as the skin experiences more trauma than when plastic needles are used. Redness can usually last for 24 hours, rather than a few hours or so after plastic needles.
No the needles are targeted and are less invasive than other skin needling techniques. Expect to feel mild discomfort.
Sunscreen is very important after dermal needling, your usual skincare regime is recommended however you may require a more intensive moisturiser for a few days.
Both dermal needling treatments are less invasive, the contoured needle head means I can be more specific in your treatments and work in more delicate areas, such under the eyes.
It is best to leave 21 days before having any dermal needling treatment.
Downtime is minimal after Dermal Needling but you will look red immediately after - this will subside within 24 hours. The skin starts healing immediately and some mild peeling may occur.
Both dermal needling treatments give fantastic results, the plastic needle is more gentle than the metal needle. The metal needle is excellent for targeting lines, open pores and acne scarring
Dermaplaning is a safe, effective way to rejuvenate the overall health and appearance of your skin. It is a non-invasive, easy, fast and painless approach to helping your skin stay refreshed and young. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently 'shave' the skins surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair/peach fuzz. This hair can trap dirt and oil causing breakouts and a dull complexion.
The process of dermaplaning is one of:
- Removing dead skin cells.
- Minimising old skin scars from acne or sun damage.
- Smoothing your skin, removing fine hairs.
- Reducing the visibility of large pores or skin pigment variation.
- Releasing clogged pores and encouraging your skin to produce new skin cells and collagen for a more youthful appearance.
The results are immediate and there is very little down time. Unlike other exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion, Dermaplaning is suitable for nearly all skin types. The physical exfoliation triggers the cell regeneration process and allows products to better penetrate the skin.
Cell Biologique products are used with this treatment and a full range of home skin care products are available. I can advise on the best regime for your individual skin type
No, dermaplaning uses a blade which moves superficially across the surface of the skin. There is no cutting or breaking of the skin to cause pain or discomfort.
No, this is not physically possible. The soft, vellus hairs simply grow back in a normal growth cycle exactly the same way.
Dermaplaning an extremely safe procedure when carried out by a trained professional. The skin is prepared for the treatment and the blade is moved across the skin which is held taut and gently scrapes the skin. The risk of cutting is very minimal.
This treatment can be performed every 3-4 weeks. The treatment removes 2-3 weeks of dead skin cells. The treatment works when the full cycle of skin regeneration is complete.
Almost all skin types can be treated with dermaplaning , but it is imperative that you give a full medical history before proceeding, as the skin's condition is an important factor.
Active cold sores, active acne, psoriasis or broken capillaries.
